The King of Limbs

It’s a Saturday night and what is happening? I’m sitting at home thinking about what to cook for lunch and dinner tomorrow, welcome to my life of working at 6am on weekends. My bed time is, oh lets see 3 hours away. What better way to past the time than write a review of a new release. Beer in my hand, computer in my lap get ready for my mostly valid opinion.

Radiohead recently released their 8th studio album, “ The King of Limbs”. I’m a fan of Radiohead, but I hadn’t heard about this album until a month after its release. What kind of fan am I, right? Not a crazy one. Ha. Any way I thought to myself I better take a listen because I could be missing out on something great. I was right but it took me 3 good listens to understand. You know those moments when you are listening to an artist and ask yourself , am I not smart enough to get this or is this just crazy. I call that a gaga moment and I had one the first and second time I listened to The King of Limbs.

I didn’t know if I was listening to the right album or not but if you know Radiohead you know this is how things are for us less experienced Headers. On my 3rd listed I realized this is genius, the sounds, they lyrics, the feeling and emotion put into it was pure human genius. Like I said I was already a fan and had listened to Raidohead before but this album feels different. There is a bit less singing and a bit more electronic instrumental sounds. From Pablo Honey to this album Raidohead has influenced and reacted to a generation.

I cant predict the future but I don’t see them slowing down or going anywhere. As this album picks up steam and more people experience the band their following will grow in number. This isn’t an album to be taken lightly, listen with full intent and you will see what I mean.

Radiohead - Lotus flower

Radiohead- Bloom
